GPR of Masonry Arch Column in Manchester
Utilising post processed GPR data, we, at Streval, were able to help our client identify elevated areas of water saturation inside a masonry arch column. 3D imaging of the column showed water saturation inside the centre of the column – indicating a water pathway through the column and possible material loss inside the centre of the column. The column was scanned using a small scissor lift, with the scan area marked with a green rectangle in the photo. All our operatives hold appropriate plant operation certification – in this case IPAF tickets.
What is Post Processed GPR Data?
Post processing GPR Data is a type of GPR survey whereby the data is collected and saved when the surveyor is on location. The data collected can then be viewed later when the surveyor returns to an office environment. Indepth analysis of the data is completed using specialised software on a seperate computer. This is an efficient method that allows the structural expert time to fully consider the data resulting in better, more accurate results.
